Ingredients
Dough
- 150g cooked red beets
- 150ml water
- 500g flour (all-purpose flour)
- 8g salt (1⅓ teaspoons)
- 15g granulated sugar
- 9g instant yeast
- 60ml sunflower oil
Topping
- Milk
- Sesame seeds
Instructions
- Place the cooked red beets and water in a food processor and blend until smooth.
- In a deep bowl, combine the flour, salt, sugar, yeast, sunflower oil, and the blended red beet mixture. Mix and knead for 10-12 minutes until you have a cohesive dough.
- Cover the dough and let it rest for 1 hour in a warm place or until it has doubled in size.
- Divide the dough into 26 pieces (30 grams each) and shape into balls.
- Place the dough balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush them with milk and sprinkle sesame seeds on top.
- Let the red beet buns rise for 30 minutes or until they have doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (392°F). Bake the red beet buns for 7-10 minutes, but keep an eye on them as each oven varies.
- Immediately cover the buns with a kitchen towel as soon as they come out of the oven to keep them soft.
