  • 150g cooked red beets
  • 150ml water
  • 500g flour (all-purpose flour)
  • 8g salt (1⅓ teaspoons)
  • 15g granulated sugar
  • 9g instant yeast
  • 60ml sunflower oil

  • Sesame seeds


  1. Place the cooked red beets and water in a food processor and blend until smooth.
  2. In a deep bowl, combine the flour, salt, sugar, yeast, sunflower oil, and the blended red beet mixture. Mix and knead for 10-12 minutes until you have a cohesive dough.
  3. Cover the dough and let it rest for 1 hour in a warm place or until it has doubled in size.
  4. Divide the dough into 26 pieces (30 grams each) and shape into balls.
  5. Place the dough balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush them with milk and sprinkle sesame seeds on top.
  6. Let the red beet buns rise for 30 minutes or until they have doubled in size.
  7. Preheat the oven to 200°C (392°F). Bake the red beet buns for 7-10 minutes, but keep an eye on them as each oven varies.
  8. Immediately cover the buns with a kitchen towel as soon as they come out of the oven to keep them soft.
