Ingredient Notes

Classic Caesar Salad Ingredients.
  • mayonnaise: It gives the smooth texture we know and love in this salad.
  • Extra virgin olive oil: Carries all the delicious flavors throughout the salad for a delicious flavor in every bite.
  • capers: Their amazing brine adds a salty factor that balances out this creamy sauce. You can find them in your grocery store near the bottled salad dressing and olives.
  • Lemon juice: Adds brightness with a slight hint of acidity.
  • Worcestershire sauce: A bold, deep flavor you’ll love.
  • Ground mustard: You can use stone ground mustard as a substitute.
  • black pepper: Use coarse black pepper for a texture that adds more flavor to every bite.
  • garlic: Measure with your heart.
  • Kosher salt: Larger consistency, but you can use regular salt too.
  • Anchovies: A classic ingredient in Caesar salad and the source of its distinctive flavor, you can substitute 2 tablespoons of anchovy paste if you don’t want to deal with those tiny slices.
  • Parmesan cheese: Grate or shred some fresh Parmesan cheese, or you can buy pre-grated or shredded Parmesan cheese. Avoid ground or stale Parmesan cheese, as it is of poor quality and has many additives added to it.
  • Roman Hearts: Use romaine lettuce hearts to add extra crunch to your delicious salad.

Add chicken

Sure! We love a delicious Caesar Chicken Salad, and you have so many options when it comes to the chicken you can use! You can buy pre-cooked chicken ready to add to the salad, cook chicken breasts, use leftover chicken, or even shred a rotisserie chicken!

Egg whites

We know that many people are afraid of eating raw eggs, so we developed this recipe without raw eggs so you don’t have to worry about anything else. Instead, we used mayonnaise that is already made from egg whites mixed with oil, so you’re already one step ahead.
